Case Converter: camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case

The result will appear here.

Line breaks are treated as spaces and apostrophes are dropped. In styles with initial capitals every word gets one, with no exception for small words.

About

Paste a variable name, a headline or a whole sentence and the tool works out which naming style it uses, then shows the same words in eleven forms side by side. You get camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE, kebab-case, Train-Case, dot.case, Title Case, sentence case, lowercase and UPPERCASE. Because the input is first broken into words, conversion works in both directions: snake_case to camelCase or back again, with nothing to configure. That helps when you rename variables, database columns, JSON keys, CSS classes or files across projects that follow different conventions. Everything runs in your browser, so the text is never uploaded or stored, and the page works offline.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text into the box, for instance user_first_name or "My first post".
  2. Check the "Detected format" line to confirm the tool read your starting style correctly.
  3. Scan the list of conversions, which refreshes on every keystroke.
  4. Press "Copy" beside the form you need to put it on your clipboard.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tool recognise the starting format?

It looks at separators and capital letters: a hyphen between lowercase words means kebab-case, an underscore means snake_case, and a capital inside a run-together word means camelCase or PascalCase. Text that mixes several styles is flagged as mixed, but it is still converted.

What happens to an acronym such as XMLHttpRequest?

It is split into three words, XML, Http and Request, and then normalised, giving xmlHttpRequest in camelCase and xml_http_request in snake_case. Acronyms therefore do not keep their capitals, except in the UPPERCASE and CONSTANT_CASE forms.

Does Title Case leave small words in lowercase?

No. Every word gets an initial capital, including "of", "the" or "and". Headline rules differ between style guides and languages, so edit the result by hand if you follow one of them.

What about accents, digits and punctuation?

Accented letters are kept and change case normally. Digits stay attached to their word, so api2_v10 becomes api2V10 in camelCase. Punctuation acts as a separator and disappears, and apostrophes are removed without splitting the word.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Your browser does all the work, nothing is transmitted or kept, and the tool keeps working without a connection once installed.
